System Capacity

System capacity is the maximum amount of electricity a specific part of the local, low-voltage distribution network can safely handle or deliver to end-users (customers). It is determined by the equipment (like substations and power lines) in that section of the grid and can vary significantly across different areas. If the demand for electricity exceeds this capacity, it can lead to system failures, damaging equipment or power outages.

Measuring and monitoring System Capacity is important to ensure we can connect new services; meet the daily electricity demands of residential, commercial and industrial customers, prevent overloading that can result In equipment failure and loss of power; manage growth within our community.
