Energy Conservation Announcement

The Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines has directed the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to discontinue the current 2015-2020 Conservation First Framework and implement a new interim framework, in support of the government’s goal to reduce electricity costs for customers.

The change means that the IESO will centrally deliver energy-efficiency programs on a province-wide basis with a focus on business and industrial programs beginning April 1, 2019 until December 31, 2020. Ontario businesses will continue to have access to incentives for retrofits and other energy-efficiency projects, and the Home Assistance program for low-income customers and conservation programming for Indigenous communities will continue.
